After five years of production our Pulsar range of loudspeakers has been completely revised and significantly improved. The cabinets of both the ST 21 floor-stander and the R 21 shelf speaker now feature a new, more clearly defined design with greater net volume for enhanced low bass response. The new drive units are equipped with the very latest technological elements, including optimised magnetic field lines for better coupling of the vibrating components, lower distortion and higher efficiency. The crossover unit is accurately computed to match the drive units, the cabinet and the baffle. The High-Tech dome treble unit with its special 25 mm diaphragm has a low resonant frequency, making it a superb choice for use in a two-way speaker. It harmonises perfectly with the 150 mm bass / mid-range driver, which was originally based on the ST 21’s long-throw bass units. For this application it is equipped with a modified cone and vibrating components for use in a two-way speaker. A significant design feature of the new Pulsar loudspeakers is their totally smooth baffle, devoid of corners or edges. There are absolutely no screws or indentations to disturb the sound dispersion or generate reflections. The drive unit baskets are located using precisely shaped die-cast aluminium rings which fit flush with the baffle. This enormous sophistication is responsible for the R 21’s perfect sound dispersion, the sonic image appearing to be completely detached from the loudspeaker. The result is incredibly accurate, spacious reproduction with ultra-precise positioning.
