The Integrated Amplifier with DAC

The PA 1100 E was developed for customers who are looking for an amplifier with various digital inputs, but who no longer need a CD drive. It was designed as a stand-alone unit and is not suitable for operation in combination with the MP 1000 E multi-source player. However, the PA 1100 E is equipped with the high-quality D/A converter of the MP 1000 E and has also been fitted with an HDMI input. When a TV is connected, the volume can be conveniently controlled via the TV remote control. All the sub-assemblies of the PA 1100 E are identical to those of the integrated amplifier PA 1000 E, and for this reason it shares exactly the same acoustic performance and characteristics. The sole difference lies in the inputs: one of the PA 1000 E’s symmetrical inputs has been replaced by a digital input board. This board operates completely autonomously from the rest of the machine, and separate voltages are fed to its digital and analogue sections. The board is fitted with its own micro-processor which assumes full control of the digital inputs, filters and converter. For this reason it has no influence of any kind on the analogue signal processing and sound qualities of the PA 1100 E. The high-quality Bluetooth® module provides music transfer from mobile devices at superb aptX™ quality.

Inputs

The digital input board enables many digital sources to be connected directly at very high quality, using either coax or optical inputs. The USB-B input even makes it possible to play very high-resolution files from a PC or via Ethernet / USB bridges such as Roon or NAA, using data rates of up to 384 kSps for PCM and up to DSD 256.
The high-quality Bluetooth module provides music transfer from mobile devices at superb aptX™ quality, and the BT player can be controlled using the AVRCP protocol.
A further option is the additional installation of an HDMI circuit board featuring two input and one output socket with Audio Return channel for the television set. Sound output is exclusively in stereo.
The digital data are converted into analogue signals to very high standards of quality and resolution by the modern 32-bit converter. A further refinement for PCM data are two different oversampling algorithms: one of them a standard FIR filter, the other the Bezier oversampling developed by T+A, offering outstanding timing and transient handling.

Operation

The PA 1100 E can either be controlled directly on the machine itself, or using the FM 11 remote control handset supplied with the machine in conjunction with the E 2000 IR receiver. The latter can be set up anywhere close to the PA 1100 E, and connected to the RC-In socket on the back panel.

Erstklassige Verarbeitung trifft auf hervorragenden Klang und enorme Leistungsreserven

Vor der Leistung des T+A PA 1100 E kann man nur den Hut ziehen: Was hier an Dynamik, Standfestigkeit, Detailreichtum und akustischer Klarheit geboten wird, verdient höchsten Respekt. Innerhalb des T+A Portfolios gehört dieser Vollverstärker zu den günstigen Optionen, aber er ist bereits so gut, dass selbst erfahrene, versierte HiFi-Liebhaber mit dem Kauf nicht das Geringste falsch machen dürften. Und, es bleibt keinesfalls bei HiFi – wer das optional erhältliche HDMI-Modul ergänzend kauft, kann den Vollverstärker auch als Klang-Manager für alles hernehmen, was an Ton vom TV ausgegeben wird. Und das gelingt großartig, wie dieser Test beweist. Mit seinem klassischen Erscheinungsbild, den bis ins Detail hochwertigen Baugruppen und der überragenden Verarbeitung bringt der PA 1100 E alle Tugenden einer prächtigen, aus traditionsreichem Hause stammenden Komponente mit.

Der PA 1100 E ist ein Verstärker mit alten Tugenden und neuer Technologie. Traditionelle Qualität kombiniert mit dem richtigen Gespür für Zeitgeist. Die Modulare Form der HDMI- und Phono-Optionen kann helfen, wenn man sich vielleicht erst später entscheiden möchte, nachzurüsten. Aber selbst in der Grundausstattung ist der PA 1100 E ein Hammerpaket, das den Erwartungen an echtes Made in Germany mehr als gerecht wird.

So ist der PA 1100 E ein äußerst klangstarker Spitzenverstärker, der durch eine akribisch durchdachte und zudem im Detail clevere Ausstattung überzeugt und in der täglichen Praxis etwa eines hochklassigen Wohnzimmers immer wieder zu gefallen weiß. Übrigens auch optisch, denn ob schwarz, silberfarben oder silberfarben mit schwarzen Seitenflanken sieht das Gerät zeitlos elegant aus. Ein Tausendsassa.

Drive und Vitalität

Mit dem PA 1100 E hat T+A klug auf die Erfordernisse des Marktes reagiert und seinen bewährten Analog-Verstärker PA 1000 E um eine exquisite Digitalsektion bereichert. Diese profitiert von dem Wissen und der Technik der großen HV-Serie und liegt in Folge dessen weit über dem Qualitätsniveau, welches man gemeinhin von integrierten DA-Wandlern innerhalb eines Verstärkers erwarten darf. Mit einem solchem Pfund in der Hinterhand erzeugt der PA 1100 E ein sehr ausgeglichenes, strikt neutrales Klangbild, welches sich per Tastendruck durch Wechsel des Filters in Richtung Drive und Vitalität lenken lässt. Dank der digitalen Blutauffrischung zeigt sich dieser ohnehin schon exzellente Verstärker traditioneller Ausstattung (Klangregler, Loudness, Balance, Tape-Schleife) in jeder Hinsicht auf der Höhe der Zeit. Der fantastisch verarbeitete PA 1100 E ist in der Lage, Musikliebhabern nachhaltige Zufriedenheit zu garantieren.

Mit großem Plus

Dass mich der PA 1100 E verstärkerseitig genauso begeisterte wie der PA 1000 E, liegt ja auf der Hand. Dass mich der eingebaute DAC mitsamt HDMI-Option überzeugte, ist bei T+A´s Know How auch kein Wunder. Zusammen ergibt das eine coole Kombi unter einem Gehäusedach. Und so rechnet sich der PA 1100 E als erstklassiger Vollverstärker mit ganz, ganz großem Plus.
